Everyday is a struggle, but with perseverance, milestones will be made. Let’s hope for the best and prepare for the worst. No matter what, everyday is the start of something beautiful.
Hey guys!!
Eek!!! This is sooo delayed- blame it on surgery this week… I’m running around like a headless chicken playing catch up with stuff.
Save the date- Sat, May 8 This is going to be my second year participating in the Fifth Third River Bank Run (Grand Rapids) for NF. I’m happy to report I will be participating in the River Bank Run this year rain or shine. No surgeries are planned around that time, and since my bionic ear is on hiatus these days… the rain has got nothing on me!!!
For those that don’t know I have been battling NF2 most of my life. This rare genetic disorder has affected me in so many ways. Even though medically for me what’s to come is uncertain, I’m going to continue to keep my head held high and be inspired by life! Will you please honor me by making a contribution to my cause? I have a bit of a bet going with a few friends to raise more than $1,000 more NF will not get creamed in the face with a pie. Eek!! Help me out please!! Pie isn’t really my shade of foundation. Donations can be made by checking out My Fundraising Page
To my peeps around West Michigan on May 8th- Today is the last day for CHEAP registration for the Fifth Third River Bank Run and NF Community Walk… Prices go up by $10 per event after today. I registered this week for the 5K Walk. Hope you will, too! And don’t forget to rock your green T-shirt that day!!
Go to www.53riverbankrun.com/participants/p2/printable-entry-form.php. There you can either download a form to mail or register online. Need help? Contact Kristin at kristinbradley@comcast.net
Mon. April 12 – Stick to your TV that evening. At 6pm the WZZM news (in West Michigan) will air the next installment of my journey with NF2 and dealing with total hearing loss. At 10pm MTV devotes an entire hour to NF. Their True Life series, “I Have Neurofibromatosis” features two young people with NF1 and one with NF2. It should be fascinating.
TGIF everyone!! The sun is shining, and I’m gonna work on a painting. Have a great weekend!!
Peace, Love, Rock on!

Yup, if you can guess from this episode’s title this is about my throat. Today I had surgery.. suprise, suprise!
A tumor was discovered behind my throat and my esophagus is ridiculously narrow and food gets jammed. I was having the hardest time coughing food up when it would get stuck due to unusually relaxed gag reflex (a result from a prior throat surgery in 06’). So food has been getting caught and I walk around feeling like I’m smuggling drugs in my throat. Eek!!! So not my style!
Anyways, surgery went great today. i’m home resting up. Below are a few pic’s chronicling my day at the hospital. Enjoy!
PS-

In Pre-OP waiting and doing the whole medical history thing with the nurse. My medical records put the encyclopedia series to shame! My mom discovered we can make imprints on my feet, so… this is what happens in Pre-OP when i’m bored.
